Jordan Phly Legend - Summer ‘09

Jordan Phly Legend - Summer ‘09

Jordan designs have always been known for taking sneakers into the future, but the Jordan Phly Legend has some old school appeal to it. Rather than continually moving forward, the Phly Legend has a casual classic feel, but still brings some Jordan mystique along for the ride. Jordan will be releasing four new colorways over the next couple of months, adding some nice style elements to the simple shoe. April will see the drop of a Cool Grey/Navy pair with perforations and some wild laces and also a Premium white on white pair with a woven upper and silver accents. Then in May, look for the basic Black/Laser Blue pair to drop alongside a Black/Chlorphyll colorway that uses elephant print on the toe and heel. Check out some closer looks and release info after the jump. via Jordan-ugg.com.

Air Jordan True Flight - Summer ‘09

Air Jordan True Flight - Summer ‘09

The Air Jordan True Flight has been a pleasant surprise from Jordan Brand, with its classic look and retro appeal. Obviously heavily inspired by the Air Jordan VII, the True Flight makes a few small tweaks to give the shoe a personality of its own. A bunch of colorways have already dropped with several more on the way. These two versions shown will be among the next batch to hit stores this spring. One pair uses a simple white/black scheme with some colorful neon splatters on certain sections, while the other has a North Carolina feel with a white upper and light blue and black accents, while the other. Look for both to hit Jordan retailers in April and May respectively. via Jordan-ugg.com.

Mushroom Kingdom Air Max 90s

Every kid who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s knows about Mario, Princess Toadstool and the Mushroom Kingdom featured in Nintendo’s signature franchise. D@ Prince Customs used Mario and Princess Toadstool in their Super Mario Bros. 3 incarnations as inspiration for the Mushroom Kingdom Air Max 90s. You can check out more about these shoes at D@ Prince’s MySpace page linked here.

The image of Mario soaring through the air on the right shoe is taken from the game’s cover. Mario has just picked up a Super Leaf during his travels, allowing him to fly and giving him the appearance of a raccoon. The left shoe features perpetually distressed Princess Toadstool waiting for help as she is held hostage. I like the expression of surprise put on Princess Toadstool’s face by D@ Prince, making the shoes come to life when you put them together.

D@ Prince sets the action for the Mushroom Kingdom Air Max 90s against a yellow/blue backdrop. The yellow acts as the horizon line while the blue is the same light color used to represent the sky in the video game. I think D@ Prince outdid himself with the Mushroom Kingdom Air Max 90s by representing perfectly what makes Mario and Princess Toadstool such enduring characters.

Air Jordan XIII (13): 1997-98

Air Jordan XIII (13): 1997-98

Extremely lightweight and responsive, the XIII takes its design inspiration from the black panther, and, of course, from Michael’s predatory nature and catlike quickness on the court. The shoe features sleek Zoom Air, a unique Jumpman hologram that mimics the panther’s eye, and a carbon-fiber spring plate for more pounce in the paint. This season’s finale sees perhaps MJ’s most famous shot, in Game 6 of the Finals against Utah. (He actually wore an early release of the AIR JORDAN XIV in that game.) It proves to be the game winner, handing the Bulls their third consecutive Championship. Chicago becomes the first team in NBA history to repeat the three-peat.

Air Jordan XII (12): 1996-97

Air Jordan XII (12): 1996-97

The first AIR JORDANs to utilize Zoom Air Technology for lightweight cushioning and lightning quick responsiveness. MJ wears them as he scores 38 points against the Utah Jazz, including a three pointer in the dying seconds, despite being so ill with the flu he has to be helped off the floor after the game by teammate Scottie Pippen.

Air Jordan XI (11): 1995-96

Air Jordan XI (11): 1995-96

Michael’s intuitive insight of bringing a “formal look” to the court serves as the inspiration for this remarkable rendition. Worn during his full return in the 1995-96 season, the XI quickly becomes one of the most popular AIR JORDANs of all-time. In another bold innovative step, the AJXI features patent leather for the first time in an athletic shoe, and a ‘secret weapon’ carbon-fibre spring plate and polymer-coated upper that refuses to stretch or lose its shape through MJ’s 72-win season and a fourth NBA title. MJ becomes only the second player ever to be crowned MVP for the season, the All-Star Game, and the Finals in a single season.

air-max-95-summer-2009.jpg

We’ve seen the Fresh Water edition a couple of times already as well as the Team Orange joints, but are no less happy to find two more pairs of the Nike Air Max 95 rocking the classic black-grey-white gradient. All four pairs use this basic template with the eyelets, ‘AirMax’ logo outline and Swoosh appearing in a contrast colour. Joining the aforementioned colours are New Green and Sport Red. Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke - Waxed Canvas by Mayor

mayorheader.jpg

We all know the Mayor is the king of Air Force 1s. His 1000+pair collection is now legendary among sneakerheads. Apparently AF1s are like Pringles, cos dude just did up another nasty Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke at Nike Sportswear’s 21 Mercer St. flagship in NYC. Mayor chose a khaki-coloured waxed canvas for the entire upper and an icey midsole. The remaining contrasts are a rich golden hue, highlighted by the use of identical leathers on the lining and Swoosh. Those both match the outsole, laces and tongue logo, making for an utterly elegant outcome. Again, with these, you got zero chance of getting them, but feel free to head over to 21 Mercer and make an appointment to see what inspires you.
